by / ⠀Startup Advice / April 24, 2012

What says tech better than apps? Well, New York City has created a variety of apps to help New Yorkers get the information they need. You can use an app like NYC 311 for all your government information, watch NYC’s recycling process with NYCrecycles or even find the nearest place to get free condoms with NYC Condom.

The city also holds their BigApps competition which produces hundreds of entries each year showcasing apps that focus on New York City. Apps that have won the competition tackle issues like finding the best parking rates, knowing when subway trains are coming and even finding a nearby pick-up game or activity.

These apps show how New York is embracing data and pushing ahead to reach it’s goal of being a leading digital city.
