Hey guys, it’s Matt… today I’m here to tell you how proud I am to officially join the Bulletproof Ambassador Team along with the Chicago Cubs’ John Baker, Big Wave Surfer Nic Vaughan and Crossfit Games Champion Amanda Allen.

This is the quick three minute story of how I went from eating french fries on my deathbed in Medellin, Colombia with a nurse sticking needles in my ass to being sponsored by one of the top nutrition companies in the world…

…and yes I’ll tell you why I put butter in my coffee…

I was 13,000 feet above sea level in the Andes of Peru tasting food at an indigenous Native American community.  I mean, I couldn’t be rude, I had to eat it…

A few days passed, no big deal… I’ll just hop over to Colombia and check that out… should be cool..

And then it hit me.

I’ve never lost anything out both ends at the same time, but there I was in the bathroom of the Don Carlton Hotel, with the most violent convulsions I’ve ever felt in my life.  I’m honestly not one to exaggerate, but death crossed my mind several times as I hallucinated in my bed wondering how the hell I got myself into this situation.

Of course I had a flight to Europe the next day.

Cancelled flights, potential parasites, the whole deal…

The doctor made a house call to check on me and started sniffing around my hotel room only to find a half eaten plate of french fries in the corner that I had ordered from room service.

Come on, when you are sick you always reach for comfort foods right?

After a nice little scolding in Spanish, a half dozen needles in my ass, and about a gallon of Pedialyte, I was on the road to recovery…

A week later I skyped my buddy Coach Adam Griffin told him about my experience, and he immediately said, “Oh man, we gotta get you eating Bulletproof…”

From then on I was hooked.

Over the last year and a half I’ve listened to over 200 hours of interviews with doctors and experts in high performance and learned to:

-Get sick less by optimizing my immune system
-Increasing my productivity by eating healthy FATS for the brain
-Sleep better by using simple “sleep hacks”
-Let go of my anger and stress through mental “brain hacks”
-Get in better shape by working out less
-Release pain and inflammation in my body

Which of course had led to me doing a lot of cool shit like growing our travel company Under30Experiences by 300%, publish 37 episodes of the Live Different Podcast, being able to live in Costa Rica full-time, studying yoga in Bali, blah blah blah, humble brag, humble brag…

Anyway, I’m not going to sit here and tell you not to eat gluten, or that the ham and cheese sandwich you had for lunch was sprayed and injected with a titload of chemicals that you don’t even know about…

I’m not here to argue with you, because as my friend Juli Bauer from PaleOMG says, “I literally don’t care”.

What I really hope is that anyone reading this decides to take control of their own health even though we’ve been trained by society to only fix ourselves when we are broken.

There is a shitload of information out there that can help you feel better so you can do more positive things for other people and make the world a better place.

So here it is folks, it’s the best I can do.  Read some good stuff (ahem, the Bulletproof blog), learn to take better care of yourself, and hey, maybe even get out of your comfort zone and observe your thoughts for 5 minutes in a quiet room…

Thank you Dave Asprey and Bulletproof for having confidence in me and welcoming to your team.  And thank YOU if you read this far– I’m literally sharing the best resource I know.

Eat it up yourself, send this to a friend who loves to kick ass or maybe tag one who needs a kick in the ass 🙂
