No matter what you believe, your mindset is quite important in deciding whether or not you will succeed in your business. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in the game for a while, certain ways of thinking will guarantee a one way ticket to rock bottom. Are you unknowingly sabotaging your success by having the following mindsets?

People Aren’t Going To Pay What I’m Charging

If you truly believe this, stop. Take a seat and carefully assess why you feel that way. This mindset will only set you up for failure because, well, you’re not going to make enough to sustain your business. Undercharging your services is only going to attract the wrong kind of customers. You want loyal people who buy what you’ve got because of the value they get from it, and you know you’ve got what people want. It’s just that simple.

I Don’t Have Enough Time

Yes, we all have 24 hours in a day. Sure, a business owner has lots and lots of stuff on their plate. But using the excuse of not having enough time just isn’t going to cut it. Do you see successful business owners out there complaining that they’re too busy? Of course not. They keep their head down and do their work. If you really want something to happen, you simply make time for it. It’s called prioritizing. Take a look at what is truly important to you and cut the other stuff out.

If you keep saying you’re too busy to do tasks needed in your business, soon enough you’ll start doing that with more important stuff too. If you continue to let it snowball, pretty soon you’ll be out on the streets.

The Economy’s So Bad, Nobody Will Buy What I Have To Offer

Look at all the businesses that have succeeded despite the crappy economy. There must be a reason why they’re still able to thrive. Just because the economy is bad, doesn’t mean that there aren’t people out there spending money. Many people even say a recession is the best time to start a business. If your product helps to solve problems and many people find it valuable, customers will come. Don’t you worry your little head about it.

I Wish It Could Be Easy

Let’s face it. If owning a successful business were so easy, everyone would be doing it.  Besides, plowing through tough times forces us to figure out how badly we want something. Yes, it will eventually become easier, but certainly not easy.

Another reason not to think this way is to avoid playing the victim card. Becoming a victim is the last thing you want to do, because you’ll just end up wallowing all day. Being in this negative mindset all the time will cause you to give up every time there is a roadblock, instead of exploring all possible solutions to your problem. Wallowing will change the way you interact with your customers and employees, who might not take your negative attitude so kindly.
