Roll Out the Red Carpet

red-carpet

I watched pieces of the Academy Awards ceremony last week in between working out and having dinner when this idea popped into my head that I want to share with you. Traditionally, red carpets are used for extremely exclusive events and they are a sign of wealth and class status. When someone says “red carpet treatment” what they mean is to provide the best to one’s guests.

What if we could apply a “red carpet treatment” to our relationships? A red carpet treatment reserved for those people you were meant to serve where you will only allow amazing, exciting, supportive, super cool, awesome people into your life.

People that have a red carpet treatment in my life are:

Living with passion

Learning new things and seeking adventure

Always welcoming change and embracing the process

Authentic

Helping others with their strengths and talents

Doing things for social impact and not necessarily because it brings money

Supportive, inspiring, encouraging, empowering, generous

Putting more emphasis on experiences rather than material things

Hug givers and lovers of life

Vulnerable

Creators

Seeking gratitude

Developing healthier habits

Making meaning out of life

Misfits, rebels, change-makers, open-minded

I feel blessed to be part of communities full of people that represent all the things listed above, but if you are in a stage where you are looking for a community to fit in, don’t worry.

Like everything else, it starts small.

Think about one person in your life right now that inspires you.

Got it?

Cool, now go spend more time with that person this week and let me know how it goes.
