Sara Twister Defies Conventionality

Sara Twister distinguishes herself in a world where entertainment frequently depends on dazzling special effects and computer filters by fusing comedy, audacity, and genuine talent. Her sold-out one-woman show, Ready.Aim.Fire, has captivated audiences across four continents, performed in four languages, and earned numerous awards, including the 2023 People’s Choice Award at Germany’s prestigious Wandertheaterfestival. Due to its immense popularity, Sara was invited back in 2024 to headline the festival again. Sara’s path from life as a daughter of missionaries in Zambia to a widely recognized performer shows that no goal is too outlandish to pursue.

Sara Twister

A Creative Performance Artist

Sara Twister has forged a singular route by fusing comedy and theatrical spontaneity with the dangerous accuracy of foot archery, an uncommon accomplishment in and of itself. Her signature act has garnered her the 2024 Bronze Jury Award at the International Performing Arts Theatre Festival in Lingen, Germany, and the 2023 Jury’s Choice Award at Koblenz’s Internationale Gaukler und Kleinkunstfestival.

Ready.Aim.Fire has not only garnered awards but has also seen repeated demand, with added show dates and invitations to some of the world’s largest festivals, including Dubai’s International Women’s Day celebration at Global Village. Sara’s innovative combination of athleticism and entertainment has redefined outdoor theatre, making her a pioneer in a traditionally male-dominated space.

Empowerment Through Entertainment as an Entrepreneur

Sara Twister

Sara’s performances are centered upon a potent message: with attention and persistence, dreams, no matter how strange or challenging, can come true. She uses foot archery as a metaphor for overcoming barriers; as she aims to hit her target, she physically bends over backward. Every expertly placed shot serves as a reminder that with enough focus and determination, even the unachievable may become achievable.

Sara not only amuses her audience but also helps them feel empowered. Through her performances, she demonstrates that self-expression is essential to obtaining fulfillment and that no one is constrained by their upbringing. Her passion motivates young people to embrace their individuality and reject the notion that they must fit to thrive.

Sara Twister’s ability to create groundbreaking entertainment extends beyond her live performances. She has guest-starred on sold-out TV shows such as Das Supertalent in Germany, The Ray D’Arcy Show in Ireland, and Iumor in Romania, reaching millions worldwide.

An Unconventional Journey

Sara’s journey to stardom wasn’t straightforward. Her early years differed from the performing arts industry she would eventually love. By most industry standards, she started her career late, as it wasn’t until she was 24 that she realized her true calling was in the circus.

When Sara first considered using foot archery in her show, she had only seen a photo of the stunt. Knowing that it would likely be impossible to find a teacher skilled in training foot archers, she taught herself to shoot on the bottom deck of a converted ammunition barge in Sydney, Australia, where she was living at the time.

The next challenge she encountered was that this was the first time anyone had attempted this stunt in an outdoor public setting or involved an audience member in the performance. She needed to find a way to execute the stunt accurately while ensuring all safety requirements were met. With the help of skilled prop makers and her determination, she overcame many frustrating attempts through trial and error, ultimately creating the signature stunt she now performs internationally.

Breaking Boundaries in Innovative Entertainment

Sara’s journey has included headline performances at Asfaltart in Italy, Lawrence’s Women’s Edition in Kansas, and Dubai’s Global Village—all events celebrating the power of women in entertainment.

Besides entertaining large audiences, Sara shatters stereotypes in the entertainment industry as a footarcher. Her choice to move acts usually confined to the circus tent to festival stages and the streets has given spectators additional avenues to enjoy live performances. By leaving the circus ring and performing in more approachable public areas, she is making performances that appeal to a broader range of audiences.

Her upcoming project explores the concept of “feeling” in a digital age, aiming to reconnect audiences with physical sensations and authentic human interaction. This work will debut as both a live theatrical performance and a motivational TED Talk featuring her signature foot-archery demonstration.

Gazing Ahead

With her sold-out one-woman show, Ready.Aim.Fire, Sara’s ambitions continue. She is now getting ready for the Guinness World Record in the category “Farthest arrow shot with the feet blindfolded.” Her upcoming performances will incorporate this new challenge, pushing the boundaries of what she and her audience think is achievable.
