A couple weeks back Facebook announced it will be giving out $10 million in free advertising to 200,000 small businesses in 2012. That amounts to $50 worth of free advertising for your business. That may not sound like a lot but with each click only costing pennies at times, the right targeting could easily lead to new business.
“Our goal is to give small businesses a boost by helping them find customers the best way possible — through recommendations from friends,” said Sheryl Sandberg, Facebookâs chief operating officer.
To access the program you have to first take out an ad on Facebook and then in January businesses will have the chance to get their $50 of free ads. It will be on a first come first serve basis up to the 200,000 businesses.
So the question is: Will this help your business? Obviously any chance to do some free marketing is a good one but do you think you can see results with $50? If you have used Facebook ads in the past what has been your experience?
