Security Excellence

The U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has applauded the efforts of several teams at Pantex Plant and the Y-12 National Security Complex by presenting them with the prestigious Defense Programs Awards of Excellence.

This recognition emphasizes their excellent contributions to the important mission of national security.

Over 200 employees from Consolidated Nuclear Security were honored for their significant achievements.

Pantex Site Manager, Colby Yeary, highlighted the necessity of excellence in this critical mission, affirming that the award recipients truly represent this standard.

He praised their consistent hard work and steadfast commitment to excellence, assuring that the Pantex site will continue to value and promote such remarkable performances in the future.

The awards in 2022 acknowledged outstanding efforts particularly in three major projects at Pantex that consisted of developing a new capability, addressing significant material shortage issues, and ensuring technicians are appropriately trained for prompt delivery.

In another development, West Texas A&M University College of Engineering is ensuring crucial support to local businesses in the Panhandle region aiming to secure national grants for energy conservation and generation projects.

This initiative is backed by a $250k Rural Energy America Program (REAP) grant from the U.S Agriculture Department.

The university’s College of Engineering is applying its expertise in engineering and renewable energy to guide these businesses towards obtaining effective grant funding.

Not just for grant procurement, this effort contributes towards the larger objective of promoting energy conservation and innovative generation projects for the wider benefit of the Panhandle region and beyond.

Lastly, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is planning to host the Homesteading conference in Canyon on April 27.
