Zelenskyy War Plan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to reveal his plan for ending the war with Russia now, rather than waiting until after the November presidential election. In an interview, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of being prepared if there are risks to Ukraine’s independence and statehood. Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, has repeatedly claimed that he would resolve the conflict as one of his first tasks if elected president.

However, he has not provided specific details about his plan.

Zelenskyy expressed concerns about the potential repercussions after the U.S. election, stressing the need to know in advance whether Ukraine would continue to have strong support from the U.S. or be left to fend for itself. “If Trump knows how to end this war, he should tell us today,” Zelenskyy stated.

Zelenskyy seeks clarity on Trump’s plan

“Because if there are risks to Ukraine’s independence, if there are risks that we lose statehood, we want to be prepared for this.”

The Ukrainian president emphasized that his message is clear: if there is a plan, it can be kept private due to the elections, but Ukraine needs to know in advance to prepare. Trump’s campaign office declined to comment on the matter.

In a recent debate with President Joe Biden, Trump mentioned that he does not consider it acceptable for Ukraine to surrender four of its regions to Russia to end the war. However, he also indicated his opposition to further eastward expansion and openness to negotiating with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the retention of Ukrainian territory by Moscow, according to officials and advisors in contact with Trump. The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has been a major point of discussion in the international community, with various efforts to find a diplomatic solution.

As the U.S. presidential election approaches, the future of Ukraine’s support and the potential for a resolution to the war remain uncertain.
