Biden Exit

President Joe Biden will deliver a nationally televised address from the Oval Office on July 14, 2024. He will discuss his decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. Biden began drafting his speech while isolating in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, after testing negative for Covid-19.

He worked closely with his longtime communications aide, Mike Donilon, who played a key role in presenting the data supporting Biden’s decision to step aside. In his upcoming speech, Biden plans to explain to the American people how he arrived at his decision. He believes it is “in the best interest of my party and the country.” The address will cover a mix of his achievements over the past 3½ years and his goals for the remaining months of his presidency.

This will be only the fourth time Biden has addressed the nation from the Oval Office. When asked by a reporter what the country should expect from his address, Biden simply responded: “Watch and listen.”

As the Democratic Party transitions from Biden’s candidacy, efforts are being made to cement his legacy.

Biden announces exit from race

High-profile fundraisers across the country are being reassigned to support Harris’s campaign. Biden is expected to focus on his presidency’s legacy in the coming days and weeks. Harris, who is now the Democratic frontrunner, has been campaigning in key battleground states, including Wisconsin.

She aims to draw contrasts with former President Donald Trump, who is scheduled to hold his first campaign rally since Biden’s announcement in North Carolina on Wednesday. During his speech, Biden is also expected to outline his vision for the remainder of his term. He will focus on key priorities and initiatives he hopes to achieve.

This will be his first public address since announcing his decision to step down from the race, marking a significant moment in the 2024 election cycle. With Biden stepping aside, the Democratic Party must now embrace an open process to rally around Harris. They must prepare for the general election against Trump.
