The body of a missing 17-year-old boy from Lynn, Massachusetts, was found in a pond near the Lynn Woods Reservation on Tuesday afternoon. Brian Lopez had been missing since Friday, and his body was discovered by a group of people who were going fishing in the area. The fishermen notified the Saugus police after seeing Lopez’s body in the water.
Lynn police chief Christopher Reddy expressed sadness at the tragic outcome, saying, “Sadly, the outcome was not wanted when he was discovered in the pond.”
Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker said that no foul play was suspected in Lopez’s death. “We’re waiting for the word of the medical examiner. That will take a little bit of time,” Tucker said.

Lopez was known to spend time in the Lynn Woods area, and various agencies, including Lynn Police, Lynn Fire, and Massachusetts State Police, conducted extensive searches.
The search operations utilized drones, K-9 search dogs, ATVs, mountain bicycles, and foot patrols. Lopez’s clothing and personal accessories tentatively identified the body, but an official identification will follow. The incident has shaken the local community, and the family receives support from friends and relatives during this difficult time.
Lopez was a rising senior at Lynn Classical High School. His cell phone was found on Gardiner Street after he was last seen walking on Myrtle Street on Friday morning. The incident remains under investigation, but authorities have assured the public that there is no threat and that they do not believe anyone else was involved in Lopez’s death.
The medical examiner’s report is expected to provide more information about the cause of death.
