“We have to help [Vice President Kamala Harris] win because we know that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if it meant lining his own pockets and greasing the palms of his Wall Street friends,” Ocasio-Cortez said. She called Vice President Kamala Harris a “leader” and said her presidential campaign is a “rare and precious opportunity.” Ocasio-Cortez said Harris fights every day for working class Americans. “The truth is, you cannot love this country if you only fight for the wealthy and big business.
To love this country is to fight for its people. All people. Working people.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez at the DNC: "Ever since I got elected, Republicans have attacked me by saying that I should go back to bartending. But let me tell you, I'm happy to — any day of the week. Because there is nothing wrong with working for a living."

Everyday Americans like bartenders and factory workers and fast food cashiers who punch a clock and are on their feet all day in some of the toughest jobs out there,” she said.
AOC criticizes Trump at DNC
Several high-profile Democrats spoke at the DNC, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris thanked President Joe Biden, who was also scheduled to speak. Ocasio-Cortez said Democrats need to win big majorities in the House and Senate to pass a progressive agenda. “Over the next 78 days, we will have to pour every ounce, every minute, every moment into making history,” she told the crowd.
There were also protests near the convention by anti-Israel activists. Pro-Hamas demonstrators demanded the U.S. stop funding Israel. Some protesters tore down fencing before police made arrests.
Vice President Harris proposed raising corporate taxes to reverse cuts made under the Trump administration. She said this would help increase economic equity. The Democratic National Convention continues this week with more speeches and policy discussions expected.
