The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced that eligible retirees can receive up to three different Social Security checks in November 2024, including the recently approved Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) raise. This news brings significant financial relief to thousands of Americans who rely on these benefits to meet their basic needs. The 2024 COLA increase of 3.2% has been applied to all Social Security benefits, resulting in higher beneficiary payments.
The exact payment schedule for November 2024 is as follows:
On November 1, all Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries will receive their payments. Additionally, retirees who began receiving benefits before May 1997 will collect their checks on this date. Retirees with post-May 1997 checks and birthdays between the 1st and 10th will receive their payments on November 13.
Those whose birthdays are between the 11th and 20th will collect on November 20, and those whose birthdays are between the 21st and 31st will receive their checks on November 27.
December SSI payments will be issued on November 29
Furthermore, the December Supplemental Social Security payment will be issued on November 29, as December 1 falls on a weekend.
It is important to note that if you receive both Social Security and SSI payments, you may receive a payment on the 1st and 29th of November and on the 13th, 20th, or 27th, depending on your retiree group. To ensure timely payment, the SSA requires beneficiaries to set up Direct Deposit; otherwise, payments may arrive a few days later. To qualify for SSI, applicants must meet specific requirements set by the SSA.
These include being a U.S. resident or citizen, being over 65 years old, blind, or having a disability that prevents work, and having limited income and resources. For those applying based on disability, medical evidence demonstrating the inability to perform substantial work is required. As of January 1, 2025, Social Security beneficiaries will see a further increase in their monthly checks due to recent adjustments, bringing additional financial relief to millions of Americans.
