No person that has ever achieved great things in life has done it without experiencing adversity. In fact, I often tell my clients that adversity is the catalyst to an amazing life. As I write this to you, I just lost a dear friend of mine about a week ago in a tragic accident. A few days later I was on stage hosting my Master Class.
I had a few moments where I said maybe I should just cancel this event. However, I knew that I was made for moments of adversity. While I will miss my friend dearly, I can be grateful for the time we had together. I can take the powerful lessons and conversations we had and use them to reach my greatest potential. I believe that the journey to success starts with you. Success is delayed when you do not know how to get out of your own way. Here are a few ways to affirm your power and awaken to new possibilities in your life.
1. You need to take time for introspection.
We hear this word used so loosely. Yet I am certain that many have no clue what the word really means. Introspection means to do an inspection of your inner world. So many times the external whispers silence the inner world. Get still and silent so you can really figure out what is going on inside of you. If you do not get in tune with your true self you will get trapped in the superficial image that external voices desire to create for you.
2. You have to get clear about who you really are.
Yes you are reading that correctly. In a culture that is obsessed with celebrities and living vicariously through others, I am troubled by what I see. We are dealing with a generation of people that have an identity crisis. We don’t know who we are. It is impossible to fulfill your assignment without first knowing who you are. I invite you to do some journaling and really search deep within yourself. If you ask and wait for the answer you will unlock your authentic self.
3. You have to affirm your identity through daily affirmations.
Many have called me the wordsmith. People all over the world read my daily quotes and affirmations. I have heard countless stories of breakthrough as people have recited these affirmations over their lives. So where do you start? Affirm that you are a wonderfully created human being. Affirm that you were created with a unique purpose to serve the world in a big way. Affirm that you have limitless potential waiting to be unlocked. Affirm that you awaken to new possibilities for your life. Affirm that your dreams are within reach and that your dreams will be realized. Affirm that you are a strong, powerful, confident, courageous and extraordinary human being destined to impact the world in a profound way. This is a great starting point for you to affirm who you truly are.
4. Stop surrounding yourself with limiting relationships.
You will never rise above the relationships in your life. Relationships have a lot to do with the success or failure of our lives. So many times we are so desperate for relationships that we draw dysfunction into our lives. Dysfunction will always produce a disempowered life. You have to make a decision to surround yourself with relationships that lift you. I choose to surround myself with people that think at another level. My inner circle is filled with people that share my passion for life and living on purpose. Most importantly, I have filled my inner circle with people that refuse to be defined by limitations. You need to get around people that inspire you to pursue your dream life. You can live an empowered existence but first you have to stop looking for validation on the outside. Your talents and gifts are valuable and it’s time to get out of your own way and reach your full potential.
