Healer Olivia Biera’s dysfunctional childhood led to her becoming a rebellious youth. That said, this upbringing and her ancestral history inspired her to pursue a career as a spiritual guide. Today, Olivia is a trusted advisor for those seeking self-growth and communal healing in a city desperately searching for such help.
The Early Days
Biera refers to her childhood as the typical Chicano family. That said, the healer has always been drawn to her ethnic heritage. Holding a unique mix of Mayan and Comanche blood, Biera spent her early adulthood learning the art of ancestral healing practices from various instructors in specific disciplines such as craniosacral unwinding, vibrational healing, and somatic experiencing. These undertakings help clients feel better, teach them self-healing techniques, and discover themselves more personally and intimately.
Appropriate for the Times
These days, more people have chosen to leave the traditional nine-to-five world behind and focus on simpler, less self-serving avenues. Biera believes that ancestral healing practices play a huge role in helping individuals achieve such aims.
As important as these practices are, they almost faded into oblivion before their most recent resurgence. However, these disciplines, some of which are centuries old, elicit certain benefits.
Look Out for the Fakes
Biera warns prospective participants not to trust the many self-proclaimed ancestral healers. She says to pay close attention to their message and be wary of those promoting false pretenses. Such individuals often advertise themselves as capable of diagnosing all or most of your problems and providing quick remedies.
“It’s not a healer’s work to tell you that something is wrong with you and offer themselves as the solution,” she said. “As a healer, we are just there to guide you to discovering and processing these things for yourself.”
Biera added that true healers understand the weight of their responsibility and realize what their jobs involve and do not involve.
The Biera Difference
Biera believes that she stands out from the crowd because of her capacity to stay grounded and provide her clients with a safe and comfortable environment, enabling them to heal physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
“People’s lives change as they are able to tap into and process suppressed emotions, and make changes to dysfunctional behaviors that are the result of their conditioning. They are feeling empowered through a deeper connection to the wisdom of their true self,” she said.
“Intuition is heightened, negative self-talk is diminished and a new path is discovered as they feel the emergence of their authentic self, gaining a new confidence. I often see clients come back with their families or dive deeper into understanding their own gifts and talents for self-healing,” continued Biera.
The Next Journey
Biera experiences the good fortune of seeing a solid percentage of her clients return with family members, and help said subjects in their healing journeys. She emphasizes the importance of self-reflection and always learning, allowing her to navigate her own journey while helping others. Biera hopes to continue setting an example of how valuable partaking in self-reflection is and providing a healing space for a diverse but divided city like Los Angeles.
