Vitillo’s plans to increase user immersion in real-world interaction are stymied by camera restrictions, frustrating his attempts to enable users to interact with physical elements, like punching bags, in his app’s virtual environment.
Kalani Helekunihi, designer of apps for elderly and disabled individuals, feels the same frustration. He argues that the restrictions impede his ability to enhance his app for visually impaired users, limiting the software’s ability to effectively articulate the user’s environment, and warn them of potential hazards.
Despite these criticisms, Apple remains firm on its decision to restrict the Vision Pro’s camera usage.
