President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, causing him to cancel a scheduled speaking engagement at the UnidosUS annual conference. The White House confirmed that Biden developed mild symptoms and will be returning to Delaware to self-isolate while continuing to carry out his presidential duties. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated, “Earlier today following his first event in Las Vegas, President Biden tested positive for Covid-19.” She noted that the president is vaccinated and boosted and will be taking the antiviral drug Paxlovid.

Despite his condition, Biden assured reporters that he felt good as he was seen walking slowly up the steps of Air Force One in Las Vegas, preparing to return to Delaware. A note from the president’s doctor indicated that Biden had symptoms such as a runny nose, a non-productive cough, and general malaise. He will be isolating at his home in Rehoboth, Delaware, in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance for symptomatic individuals.
