Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign announced on Sunday that it raised $200 million in the first week since she became the likely Democratic presidential nominee. The campaign said 66% of the donations came from first-time contributors in the 2024 election cycle. The surge in donations followed President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race and endorse Harris.
Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support. At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in… pic.twitter.com/0UIS0doIbA

Over 170,000 volunteers have also signed up to support the Harris campaign with phone banking, canvassing, and other get-out-the-vote efforts. “The momentum and energy for Vice President Harris is real — and so are the fundamentals of this race: this election will be very close and decided by a small number of voters in just a few states,” said Michael Tyler, the campaign’s communications director. Harris campaigned in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday, where she drew hundreds to a fundraiser initially planned when Biden was still leading the Democratic ticket.

The event, expected to raise $400,000, ultimately brought in about $1.4 million.
This pace can’t last, but it is a staggering amount of money in the time. Harris, should she be confirmed, and Trump are likely to spend in excess of $2 billion each Andq that’s before outside spending. Kamala Harris raises $200 million in less than a week https://t.co/NN6PGJSq7B

After Biden’s withdrawal, prominent Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, former House Minority Whip Jim Clyburn, former President Bill Clinton, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, quickly rallied behind Harris.
Notable Democratic fundraisers, such as former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, also declared their support. At the Saturday fundraiser, Harris acknowledged the “underdog” status of her campaign but expressed confidence in its increasing momentum.
'This guy has won one election in his life with 46.2 % of the vote. Romney lost with 47.2 %. He would have to crush numbers with white turnout. And I think he’s not because he’s going to lose the higher-educated white voters.' https://t.co/KxJ92DjJUc

Future Forward, the largest super PAC in Democratic politics, announced it had secured $150 million in commitments from donors in the first 24 hours after Biden endorsed Harris.
Democratic House and Senate candidates have also reported increased support since Harris became the party’s likely nominee. Election Day is 100 days away.
