The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) organized Digital Life Certificate (DLC) camps at the Panaji Secretariat and the Mapusa branch of the State Bank of India (SBI) today. The camps aimed to help pensioners submit their Life Certificates using various digital modes. Shri Deepak Gupta, Under Secretary at DoPPW, visited the camps to support the pensioners.
The nationwide DLC campaign 3.0, part of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision for digital empowerment of pensioners, runs from November 1 to November 30, 2024. The campaign covers 800 cities across India, allowing pensioners from Central and State governments, EPFO, and autonomous bodies to submit their DLCs at Pension Disbursing Banks or IPPB. Special provisions, including doorstep services, are available for super senior and disabled pensioners.
The campaign is a collaborative effort involving Pension Disbursing Banks, CGDA, IPPB, and UIDAI. Representatives from SBI, including Shri Yogesh Varode, Regional Manager, RBO, North Goa; Shri Amlan Kumar Roy, Chief Manager (Operations), RBO North Goa; Shri Nirmal Kumar Singh, Chief Manager, Panaji Secretariat Branch; Shri Sameer Borwandkar, Chief Manager, Mapusa Branch; and Shri Kedar Pujari, Manager, RBO North Goa, participated in both events.
Digital submission campaign for pensioners
Dr. Amar Bhadange, Deputy Director, UIDAI, RO Mumbai, assisted and educated pensioners on generating DLCs using the Jeevan Pramaan App. Over 300 Digital Life Certificates were generated at the SBI branches during the camps.
In 2014, the DoPPW introduced Digital Life Certificates (Jeevan Pramaan), and in 2021, they added Face Authentication technology, making the process more accessible by eliminating the need for biometric devices. The 2022 campaign, conducted at 37 locations, generated 1.41 crore DLCs. The 2023 campaign expanded to 100 locations and generated over 1.47 crore DLCs, showing the initiative’s growing reach and effectiveness.
The campaign’s key partners include banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners’ Associations, UIDAI, MeitY, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Railways, and the Department of Telecommunications. Camps are set up in various cities to help pensioners with digital submissions, ensuring that even those with limited mobility can benefit from this streamlined system. The campaign’s objective is to make the certificate submission process easy and seamless for all pensioners, ensuring their convenience and digital empowerment.
