Isaac Rochell, a former NFL defensive end, has announced his retirement at the age of 29. Rochell played for the Los Angeles Chargers, Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, and Las Vegas Raiders during his seven-year career. In a recent interview, Rochell and his wife, Allison Kuch, discussed his decision to retire and his plans for the future.
Rochell joked that he is following in his wife’s footsteps as a content creator, saying, “A lot of people initially followed me because they were interested in [Allison]. But it’s turned into me having more of my voice. That’s the beauty of social media—it allows for that genuine, chill vibe.”
Kuch, who has millions of followers on social media, expressed pride in her husband’s NFL career.
“There have been so many ups and downs, and our life has truly revolved around football,” she said. “I’m so thankful for all the memories the NFL gave us.”
Rochell, who was drafted by the Chargers in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, had a notable career at Notre Dame before turning pro.
Isaac Rochell’s retirement announcement
He was a three-year starter for the Fighting Irish and finished his NFL career with 114 tackles, 9.5 sacks, and one interception. Following his retirement announcement, Rochell shared details about his NFL pension and other financial benefits. “So basically, I just go on this little website, and I see what my NFL benefits are,” he explained.
“I have seven credited seasons, which means I have seven years of pension. After seven years, I’m going to make around $6,000 a month when I turn 55.”
Rochell also mentioned that the NFL clubs match player contributions to their 401(k) plans 2 to 1, up to about $30,000. He discussed other benefits, such as the Capital Accumulation Plan and the Annuity Program, which contribute to a player’s retirement funds over their career.
Looking ahead, Rochell and Kuch are excited to spend more time with their one-year-old daughter and settle down in one place. Rochell is looking forward to diving into new ventures and creating more of a voice for himself following his football career.
