Hour4Our, a nonprofit encouraging communities to donate one hour of their time or income to charitable organizations, is proud to have raised over $11,000 to date.
Founded on integrity, transparency, and stewardship, Hour4Our has ignited community impact across Canada and the globe since 2015. Spearheaded by Dr. Jack DeGruchy, who has spent over three decades volunteering with Rotary International and has been a three-time club president of the Kelowna Capri regional chapter, Hour4Our is redefining the power of everyday charity. As Founder and President of this pioneering nonprofit, Dr. DeGruchy has built a grand vision for the future, one where no child or family has to suffer.

By funneling resources to existing nonprofits and NGOs, Hour4Our helps everyday donors support others in their pursuit of a cleaner, greener, healthier, and more peaceful world. However, Hour4Our’s current efforts have only addressed a sliver of global charitable needs. The nonprofit is seeking consistent support from donors and community members committed to honoring the past and doing good today to build a brighter future tomorrow. With their help, they can change the world one hour at a time.
The inspiration behind Hour4Our stems from Dr. DeGruchy’s deep appreciation for his ancestors. His father and grandfather, two military veterans, and other members of his family made innumerable sacrifices for Dr. DeGruchy to enjoy the privileges of a modern life. With this idea in mind, he founded Hour4Our hoping to inspire a culture of honor, compassion, giving, and creativity.
In an age where negativity often leads to division and apathy, Hour4Our is an avenue for good that helps people of all ages and backgrounds tap into their innate desire to give.
“Hour4Our assists existing charitable organizations like Rotary International which have the network and resources to make real change happen globally, domestically, and even in our local communities. The foundation has made a considerable impact, but we have a long way until harmony, connection, and peace prevail over chaos in our world,” Dr. DeGruchy says.
The nonprofit has an intuitive donation platform and a variety of reputable charitable organizations from which visitors can choose. Hour4Our’s efforts to stimulate civic engagement on three levels enhance global development and expand the impact of its support. The nonprofit understands the diversity of an individual’s priorities, allowing them to provide humanitarian aid, fund environmental projects, or sustain organizations critical for societal cohesion. While financial support is very powerful, Hour4Our calls on motivated individuals to offer their time if they have limited resources.
Hour4Our’s nonprofit status severely limits its ability to express its ethos. Dr. DeGruchy is trying to overcome these challenges as a one-man team, but it’s difficult to illustrate the importance of charitable giving without the right support.
“I’d love to partner with creatives who can communicate how nonprofits already support countless people in their local communities,” Dr. DeGruchy says. “Sometimes we can’t visualize the impact through words alone. But imagine this, the lights one by one going out – the lights of those who have been impacted by some form of charitable good. By dimming the lights of those impacted, whether it be an individual home, a community center, or a hospital, you can see how widespread doing good touches a community. My aim with Hour4Our would highlight this lack of knowledge and let communities continue to shine even brighter with hope. However, I can not do this alone. With the support of a visual creative, I could bring my words to life – so I call to you, the creatives out there, a donation of time can be the most powerful of them all.”
Dr. DeGruchy has dedicated much of his life to this organization. The name represents the philosophy he hopes will become standard in every community: With just one hour, so much value can be given to children and families across the world.
Ultimately, Dr. DeGruchy’s vision is to fund various charities and encourage their collaboration and deployment of high-value projects. This movement does more than accelerate society’s path to healthier and more productive communities. It helps individuals recognize the power they have to make a difference today.
