Marko Stunt announces retirement from wrestling

Marko Stunt, a 28-year-old AEW original, has announced his retirement from professional wrestling. Stunt made the heartbreaking decision to prioritize his long-term health after consulting with his doctor. Stunt, whose real name is Noah Nelms, was part of AEW’s initial roster in 2019.

He was a member of the Jurassic Express faction alongside Jack Perry, Luchasaurus, and Christian Cage. Stunt was with AEW full-time until his release in 2022. In a surprise appearance on AEW Collision a few months ago, Stunt faced his former stablemate and reigning AEW TNT Champion, Jack Perry.

Unfortunately, he lost the match in under four minutes. The wrestling world quickly reacted to the news of Stunt’s retirement, expressing both surprise and support. In a heartfelt message on social media, Stunt explained his decision to retire due to health concerns.

“It has been an incredible journey – one full of passion, sweat, tears, and unrivaled joy.

Stunt prioritizes health over wrestling

Over the years, I’ve given my body up to professional wrestling.

I obviously am not the biggest, and I used that, and I allowed myself to be battered, but man did I love it. However, after consulting with my doctor, I was advised to prioritize my long-term health and step down from in-ring competition. Accepting this reality has been one of the toughest moments of my career, but I know it is the right decision,” Stunt wrote.

Stunt also thanked AEW, Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), and GCW owner Brett Lauderdale for helping to launch his career. He expressed gratitude to the production crew, fellow wrestlers, and fans for their support. Standing at just 5 feet 2 inches tall, Stunt gained attention for his underdog persona and high-energy style in the ring.

His diminutive size made him visually distinct compared to most wrestlers and helped make him a fan favorite. While Stunt is retiring from performing, it is possible that he will continue to work with AEW and/or GCW outside of the ring. Retired wrestlers frequently appear in promotions and act as commentators.

Stunt’s announcement marks the end of an era for his fans and colleagues, who will undoubtedly miss his unique presence in the ring.
