The iconic Las Vegas Mirage Casino is set to close its doors this month, but not before distributing over $1.6 million in prizes to its players. Thanks to a Nevada gaming policy, casino patrons can win these prizes at the Mirage before it shuts down. The Mirage Casino has announced a special event that began on July 9 and will continue until mid-July, offering substantial cash prizes.
Gamers can compete for $1.2 million in slot machine prizes and $400,000 in table games.
"This has reportedly led to hours-long waits for slot machines since the casino said the machines would pay out $1.2 million. The remaining $400,000 will be disbursed via table games." https://t.co/Oj5lFVa05i

Players interested in slot games can use the Hard Rock Unity Card and participate in hourly drawings held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on July 9-13 and again on July 16. Participants must be 21 years or older, and winners selected each hour must identify themselves at the Unity Players Club desk within five minutes to claim their prize.

As part of the event, the casino guaranteed specific cash amounts to be given away each day: $200,000 daily from July 9-11, $250,000 on July 12-13, and $100,000 on July 16. The decision to close the Mirage Casino comes after more than three decades of operation. The closure, announced in May, will transform the casino into the Hard Rock Las Vegas resort, slated to reopen in 2027.
The Mirage’s farewell doesn’t mark the end of its legacy but rather the beginning of a new chapter. The Hard Rock Las Vegas aims to bring innovation, world-class hospitality, and top-tier entertainment to the Strip. The chance at winning part of $1.6 million has drawn thousands of gamblers to the Mirage, with emotions running high on the casino floor as the iconic hotel-casino prepares to close its doors next week.
The Mirage is making its final mark on the Las Vegas Strip, offering a substantial promotion to create a memorable closing event.
Mirage hosts grand prize giveaway.
On Wednesday afternoon, the second day of the promotion, nearly every available slot machine bank was occupied as hopeful participants vied for a share of the $200,000 in cash winnings.
However, with over half the machines on the casino floor turned off, the scarcity has created high demand and some tension among the guests. Krissy Carter, a Las Vegas native now living in Texas, expressed her frustration after waiting almost two hours to play. She noted that some players were occupying machines without active gambling, leading to further delays for others.
Conversely, locals Matt Moss and Mandy Gonzalez were less perturbed by the situation, finding humor in the chaotic scene. They commented on the long lines at the Unity card rewards desk, suggesting that the promotion might have been more efficiently managed if it catered to existing cardholders. Moss, a table games enthusiast, looked forward to the upcoming two-day drawing, during which the Mirage will give away $400,000 in progressive table game cash.
Nate Rose, a dedicated table games player from New York now residing in Dubai, echoed the excitement. Rose, in town for the World Series of Poker, came with high hopes of leaving with some winnings. As the Mirage prepares to close after 34 years, it marks the end of an era for the Las Vegas Strip.
Hard Rock International, the new owners, are set to embark on a multi-year construction project to transform the Mirage into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas and Guitar Hotel Las Vegas, with completion expected by 2027. The Mirage has been a significant part of Las Vega’s history and is known for turning visionary casino concepts into reality. As the final days approach, both guests and employees reflect on the legacy of this iconic property.
