An Entrepreneurial Story

This is an entrepreneurial story by Rob Ianelli. The quote – “big will not beat small anymore. It will be the fast beating the slow” – by Rupert Murdoch is a focus.

My name is Rob Ianelli and I would probably say I “pinch myself more often than the normal person.” Why? Mainly because for the past two years, I have been creating a dream and living a life that not many 23 year olds, geeze even 53 year olds, can say they’ve lived.

How do I do it?

Entrepreneurship is a big word, and probably not something I used to say when I was little. Instead, I found myself dreaming and I mean dreaming about what my life would be, as opposed to fighting aliens in space and falling through the sky. That’s pillow stuff. I’m talking about the real shit. Life.

At some point in life, especially for all of us under 30 entrepreneurs, we are told that dreaming is great and we should do it, think big, never give up and shoot for the stars. Then something pretty fucked up happens…we’re told that to make it big, we have to conform. That is where we make a decision. Either we go along with that concept or we buck the trend and choose the other path. I chose the other.

I graduated college, already having made my decision and put my entire force and body behind what I believed in most: myself. In doing so, I’ve been able to travel the world, and develop (2) companies that I am insanely passionate about. I live in Martha’s Vineyard, MA at the moment and I want to let you know about what it really means to make shit happen.

Two months ago I decided on moving to Martha’s Vineyard where my family has a place. I have never lived here during a summer, ever. I’ve only visited as the house was always rented and we would come for a few weeks every Summer growing up. Well enough of the sentimental stuff, what I want to let you know is that two months ago WhatsupMartha.com did not exist and now it does. This didn’t happen by accident and neither should your life. If you’re lucky enough to end up on top of your shit by accident, I want to talk to you because it can’t be true. For the rest of us, we have to “dream” create, and execute our ideas while funneling them through an intense passion. That to me is what being a young entrepreneur is all about. It might take a 50 year old 10 steps to do what we can do in 5. That is the key, so start moving!

“The world is changing very fast. Big will not beat small anymore. It will be the fast beating the slow.”
Rupert Murdoch

How fast are you? That is the recurring question you should be asking yourself every day, because that’s what I’m focusing on. I’m one guy, no partners, no in house developers or any of the things you think you need to succeed. So just do it, I know it sounds cliché, but it’s the truth.

Adventure is right around the corner and I plan on showing you how I have been able to circumnavigate the world, make tremendous friends, insane experiences and a catalog of incredible memories.
