One Equation Will Solve the Healthcare and Education Crisis in America: N=1

by / ⠀Education / March 31, 2025

Because of AI and other technological advances, this is a beautiful time in education and healthcare. Abby Brody is trying to transform these critical sectors with her N=1 movement.

The movement was born out of tragic circumstances, and Brody aims to transform education and healthcare through her personal and educational experiences. She emphasizes the need for personalized, AI-powered solutions in education and healthcare by leveraging advanced technologies to offer affordable learning for all.

Abby Brody

Brody, the founder of the N=1 Movement, has a background in education reform and has founded many schools.

She is also a leader in education reform that meets the needs of the digital economy and the founder of many educational models, including Avenues: The World School, Mind the Gap, and the MYX. The latter initiative is a hybrid program that combines online training with experiential learning through travel at a fraction of the cost of traditional college.

Brody emphasizes using AI and technology to empower educators and promote real-world applications through the N=1 model. The model implements self-directed projects and teacher supervision, boosts student agency, engagement, and well-being, and transforms teachers into mentors and coaches rather than just information lecturers.

N=1 Movement

Brody founded the N=1 movement after an unexpected tragedy when her husband and son were both diagnosed with aggressive cancers. She was living day-to-day in the hospital when she realized that healthcare is a one-size-fits-all model, just like education, though the stakes are higher. Her son’s survival rate of 50% opened her eyes to the limitations of a healthcare system focused on treatment rather than prevention.

During this revealing period, Brody started a blog and connected with mothers fighting to save their children. These experiences propelled her to start the N-1 mission and help create the first modern medical board, the Board of American Precision Medicine.

The movement advocates for a more personalized, human-centered approach to education and healthcare, acknowledging that each student’s learning and DNA are unique. The movement recognizes that the current education and healthcare systems are failing. The N=1 movement brings education and healthcare to the 21st century by leveraging advanced technologies such as AI to enable affordable, individualized learning and healthcare for all children.

Challenges and Rethinking Higher Education

Brody’s previous educational strategy forced her to rethink higher education, and she used her model to leverage online learning to enable students to learn from the best globally. Students at MYX walked out with more than a certification; they had mastered skills through application.

However, MYX threatened the status quo by offering a more personalized and hands-on approach for a fraction of the cost of a typical four-year degree, which was not welcomed by the university system.

Her recognition of the individual distinguishes Brody’s approach from the traditional system. She sees the N=1 movement investing in and supporting learning and medical interventions that allow medicine and healthcare to advance to the digital personalized era and enable customized vaccine schedules and personalized learning initiatives.
