Queen Elizabeth II “believed” former U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, had an “arrangement” in their marriage, according to claims in a new book by author Craig Brown. During Trump’s state visit to Britain in 2019, the queen reportedly found it hard to understand why Melania stayed with her husband. But there is no asking the Queen Elizabeth II now, is there?
According to Brown, Queen Elizabeth confided in a lunch guest that she found Donald Trump “very rude,” especially noting his habit of constantly looking over her shoulder. But Americans always seem rude to the Brits.
“Over the course of her reign, Her Majesty entertained many controversial leaders, including Idi Amin, Donald Trump, and Emperor Hirohito. She may not have found their company convivial and may have expressed disapproval quietly,” Brown wrote. He further mentioned that the queen speculated about the Trumps’ marriage, suggesting that Melania must have an “arrangement” with her husband to stay married.
In response, Steven Cheung, communications director for Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, dismissed Brown’s claims, calling them “fake news” and suggesting “off” comments are always intended to sell books.
Queen’s supposed concern about Trump’s marriage
Buckingham Palace has not officially commented on the matter — probably because they are classier than us Yanks.
The Trumps’ marriage has been the subject of public scrutiny since Donald Trump entered the political arena. Donald Trump and Melania, who married in 2005, share a son, Barron, born in 2006. Melania’s absence from her husband’s campaign activities in the 2024 presidential race has been notable. However, she did make an appearance in Milwaukee following an assassination attempt on Trump at a Pennsylvania rally.
Could the sophisticated Melania Trump class up the Trump campaign trail?
After the incident, Melania made a rare public statement expressing gratitude to the Secret Service and law enforcement for protecting her husband. “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband,” she stated.
