August Payments

The Social Security Administration (SSA) is preparing to send out payments to millions of Americans in August 2024. Over 70 million people will receive benefits, including those getting retirement, disability, and survivor payments. Here is the schedule for August:

On August 1, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments will go out.

On August 2, people who started getting retirement benefits before May 1997 or who also get SSI will receive their money. Those with birthdays from the 1st to the 10th will be paid on August 14. People born between the 11th and 20th will get their payments on August 21.

Those with birthdays from the 21st to the 31st will receive benefits on August 28. SSI benefits for September will be sent early, on August 30, since September 1 is a weekend. The SSA said this early payment is not a duplicate of the previous month.

If you don’t get your payment when expected, first check that the SSA has your correct bank info for direct deposit or mailing address for checks.

Make sure you still qualify for benefits, too.

Wait a few extra days in case of delays. Contact your bank to see if they received a direct deposit. Check your “My Social Security” account online for your payment history.

If needed, call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 for help. Payments might be late if you recently changed your address or bank details, just applied for benefits, or if the SSA office has delays. The SSA may have also stopped your payments due to changes in your situation.

To avoid delays, quickly update the SSA about any changes and respond to their requests for information. Also, regularly verify that payments are being deposited on time. Visit the SSA website or call them for more details.

Keeping your info current can help ensure you get paid without problems.
