King Criticizes

Stephen King, the renowned author, has gone viral with his comments about the upcoming debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. King, known for his frequent criticisms of Trump, implied that the former president was afraid to debate Harris. In a social media post on August 3, King wrote, “An elderly man afraid to debate a woman; hoping his base will bail him out.

As kids, we called this kind of behavior chickens***.” The post quickly garnered significant attention, being viewed more than a million times and reposted upward of 6,000 times. Trump announced that he would be debating Harris on September 4 in Pennsylvania, a debate to be hosted by Fox News. Originally, a debate was planned for September 10 on ABC News, which was meant to feature Trump and then-President Joe Biden.

Trump stated he refused to debate Harris at that time, claiming it was “not fair” to do so while she was not the official Democratic candidate.

King’s viral critique of Trump

Steve Cheung, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, dismissed King’s remarks, stating, “Who cares what Stephen King has to say.

He hasn’t been relevant since the ’80s.”

Harris responded on social media to Trump’s dissatisfaction with the debate schedule, saying, “It’s interesting how ‘any time, any place’ becomes ‘one specific time, one specific safe space.’ I hope to see him there.”

Adding to the tension, Trump is currently entangled in litigation against ABC News, stemming from a defamation lawsuit he filed in March this year. This followed an interview where remarks were made about his legal battle involving writer E. Jean Carroll, in which Trump was found liable for sexual assault and defamation, resulting in an $83.3 million award to Carroll.

Stephen King has continued to back Harris, urging his followers to support the Democratic nominee. On August 1, King stressed the importance of voting for Harris, claiming, “Trump is dangerous” and likened him to a child having a tantrum, saying, “There’s only one adult in this contest. It’s Harris.”
