by / ⠀News / March 21, 2025

Warren Buffett has seen his net worth surge by $18.7 billion in 2025, outpacing the wealth gains of his billionaire peers. Buffett’s fortune now stands at $164 billion, making him the seventh richest person in the world. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos hold the top two spots on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with net worths of $312 billion and $217 billion, respectively.

However, their fortunes have dropped significantly this year, with Musk’s falling by $121 billion and Bezos losing nearly $22 billion. Buffett recently overtook ex-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, who was once the world’s richest person, for the sixth spot on the list. Berkshire Hathaway’s 13% rise this year, coinciding with Microsoft’s 8% decline, has put Buffett’s fortune past Gates’s $162 billion.

Other notable names ahead of Buffett on the list include Mark Zuckerberg, Bernard Arnault, and Larry Ellison. Sergey Brin and Steve Ballmer round out the top 10, with Ballmer’s $136 billion fortune holding the No.

Buffett lives by an ironclad investing philosophy that has served him well over the years. A few core tenets definitely stand out in Buffett’s investment philosophy: value investing, focus on quality, understand the business, and have patience.

These basic principles have served Buffett well on his way to becoming one of the wealthiest men in history. Despite a challenging economic environment, Buffett’s outstanding performance showcases the timeless importance of value investing and patience.
