However, their fortunes have dropped significantly this year, with Musk’s falling by $121 billion and Bezos losing nearly $22 billion. Buffett recently overtook ex-Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, who was once the world’s richest person, for the sixth spot on the list. Berkshire Hathaway’s 13% rise this year, coinciding with Microsoft’s 8% decline, has put Buffett’s fortune past Gates’s $162 billion.
Other notable names ahead of Buffett on the list include Mark Zuckerberg, Bernard Arnault, and Larry Ellison. Sergey Brin and Steve Ballmer round out the top 10, with Ballmer’s $136 billion fortune holding the No.
